Science Goes to School

In a special initiative begun by highly motivated past students, our Predocs help local students learn that science is fun. Working in multinational teams, our Predocs introduce concepts through participatory experiments and informative debriefings.

The idea of the program is simple: students in Dresden secondary schools experience how science works through hands-on projects. After experimental work, our PhD students discuss with the students such diverse subjects as science, career paths, or their experience as a foreigner living in Dresden. The multicultural mix of our PhD students proves a great advantage in this forum. Through these English-language workshops, the students understand that science is international and based on trust, tolerance, and respect.
